Famous for high altitude vineyards, the Uco Valley is located at the foothills of the Andes Mountains approximately 100km to the south of Mendoza city. The melting snow from the Andes forms numerous streams of freshwater that flow into the Uco Valley for natural irrigation. In the outskirts of the city, the Mendoza River irrigates the vineyards of Luj\u00e1n de Cuyo and Maip\u00fa, the two most traditional zones of the region. This central part, reaching altitudes of 600 to 1,100 meters (2,000 to 3,600 feet) , benefits from the alluvial sediments and mineral deposits of the Andes. The main varietals of the region are Malbec<\/strong>, Chardonnay<\/strong>and Cabernet<\/strong> Sauvignon<\/strong>, producing wines of great structure and intensity. The terroirs of upper Mendoza River region (Lujan de Cuyo), located at 33\u00ba South Latitude, with foothill from 2000 through 3500ft about sea level grows principally Malbec y Merlot vines. This is one of the most important regions of fine wines production in Argentina.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As long as the vineyards coming from Maip\u00fa, northwest mendocinian region, located at 31\u00ba south latitude between 2000 and 2300 feet above sea level is found mostly the Cabernet Sauvignon variety is found there as well as Chardonnay grapes. This region of deep soils and slight slope is characterized by the white and red easy drinkable wines and notably varietal characteristics.<\/p>\n
